Cal Archery Team Information
Monthly Qualifier
-
All team members and dedicated club members are eligible to participate in the monthly qualfier which will consist of:
- A scoring round at 70 meters
- A scoring round at 18 meters
- Ranking board which will be posted outside of the archery shed
To be on the team:
- Participation in monthly qualifier is necessary
- A minimum of 2-3 hours of practice a week to show commitment and allow the team captain to observe.
- Good attitude, commitment, determination, patience, composure, coachable, and heart are the most important!
- Score cutoffs will be posted by either of the captains next to the monthly qualifier rankings
Once on the team:
- At least 4 hours of practice a week.
- Members must attend the weekly team practice that the captain sets up. The time spent would count towards the hours requirements.
- Members need to participate in at least 2-3 major tournaments per academic school year (state/national tournaments, ranking tournaments, invites, etc.) Smaller tournaments (shoots at the Bow Rack) do not count as they are open to all club members.
- Become a Level 1 (if not higher) certified coach. This will not only help your form, but also allow you to help club or team members with their shot.
- Help takedown/set up equipment before and after practice.
Benefits of the team:
- Advice from Dr. Jin Ho Kim, a world renowned Korean archer
- Priority for the tournaments
- Outdoor Tournaments (will be reserved for Team Members only)
- Off-campus Outdoor practices
- Individual coaching and specialized attention
- Access to team practices
- Team Uniform
Restrictions on the team:
- 25 members=> need to tryout every year
- Must shoot compound or recurve
- Practice hours are by honor system, we will not keep tag of you but if we notice a complete slacking off, we (as in captain and/or council) will take action.
- Captain and council reserve the right to dismiss people from the team for one or more of the following reasons:
- Attitude and coachability becomes unbearable
- Severe lack of interest (not showing up to practice, not practicing enough, unwilling to put in effort, refusing to go to tournaments without acceptable excuse, etc.)
- If range rules are broken (shooting at others, throwing arrows, etc.)
- Jeopardizing a teammates or someone’s safety
- Abuse of team privileges
